I've received the exact same error on a Windows 7 (32-bit), Windows 7 (64-bit) and Vista SP2 (32-bit) machine: "Livemesh Services is Unavailable. Please retry your installation later. [80072F78] Server returned an invalid or unrecognized response." I'm running the latest version of WU Agent on all three machines. Curiously, no issues with installations on my Macs! Please advise soonest...

Have a look at this thread - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/50584ae6-0734-4f28-8cfa-808e990b8666/ - particularly the posts by Freespace442 where he notes that the exact error was encountered when installing from an encyrpted \Users folder.

That sure seems to be Windows Update related, perhaps due to a firewall or proxy configuration.

Yes? You need to install when logged in as an administrator - it will not install properly under a standard user.
