  • Question

  • Hello,

I would like to know why all of a sudden my product key was gone from my system.  It was validated by online help from MICROSOFT online help 5 times yet when entered by me or by the online help into the validation dialog box it said it was  not valide. It even told me, me only, it was not from my country. I live in the United States, I have no idea where that came from when I tried to enter it into the dialog box.

If this is the wrong area please let me know and how about a spelling checker on here :)

I have the disc to reinstall...but to many games to re-install for hours and hours. BTW I am old and can retire legally that's how old.

  • It looks like you had a Trusted Store Tamper - most often caused by malware.

You probably need to take advice on cleaning up the system from a specialist malware forum.

The MGADiag report shows the system to be properly activated.

  • To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool

(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

     Once saved, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.

To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

      - in your own thread, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

  • Hi and Thank You for response. The MICROSOFT HELP ONLINE finally got me fixed. Do you still want me to run the MGADiag? I saved it to my desktop.

Custom Built Comp by IT professional about 4 yrs ago, I purchased both discs: Windows 7 professional SP-1 installed 64 bit, Thermaltake tower, ASUS MB w/disc, 750 watt power supply, ATI Radeon 6900 series video card, 8 gig ram, 2 hard drives 1 TB total, aftermarket CPU cooler, big one, I-5 CPU over clock ability. I have the product key with the disc, won't disclose here but the numbers do match in this report. One thing..when I go online now my local weather says I am in Richardson, TX...which I am not in TX but am in Ga. and have been. The MICROSOFT HELP ONLINE folks finally after 5 tries got my number re-entered. Even when they tried it would not take the number.  Just really curious why it did no validate for me? It originally did, by itself original install.

Thank You for any in site to this.
