Can restore migrate programs, files & settings to new OS on same clientPC? RRS feed

    Had a hd failure and would like to install Win 7 on the new drive and wondering if I can run restore as way to migrate programs, settings & files.

    Not directly, no. You can restore to the new drive and do an in place upgrade, however 9as long as you're not going from 32 bit to 64 bit).

    Thanks answering, Ken.  I suspected that only specific files could be restored indpendently and that programs and settings are an all or noting restore.
