Can restore migrate programs, files & settings to new OS on same clientPC? RRS feed

  • Had a hd failure and would like to install Win 7 on the new drive and wondering if I can run restore as way to migrate programs, settings & files.

  • Not directly, no. You can restore to the new drive and do an in place upgrade, however 9as long as you're not going from 32 bit to 64 bit).

  • Thanks answering, Ken.  I suspected that only specific files could be restored indpendently and that programs and settings are an all or noting restore.
