xyz.homeserver.com subdomain taken... RRS feed

  • Question

  • The xyz.homeserver.com subdomain name that I want has been taken for a year now (as of Feburary).  Every single time I try it, it does not resolve to an IP address.  My guess is that somebody registered it a long time ago, and has not used it since.  Will the subdomain ever expire or will the name be forever unusable as the current owner probably doesn't even know they own it.

Also, every time I want to try to take it, I have to unregister my current one and attempt to register the one I want.  When that fails I have to re-register my current one.  Is there a better process for doing that?  Also is there a Live ID portal to show my WHS registration information?

  • The subdomain will eventually expire, but as far as I know this can take a long time.

To my knowledge there is no no way to request WHS registration information.
You could try the Windows Live Help portal?
