Skype "Server": Anybody Running One Under WSH? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Quotes around "Server" bc I know next to nothing and it might be an inapproprdiate term.

Having said that, Skype is looking attractive as a means to call relatives in the old country.

Pretty good track record just using it plain-vanilla on a PC - but one person involved is a stone technophobe.

One alternative would be a dedicated phone:

But, logically, there have tb boxes/applications that somehow let you plug in your existing home phone system and make calls on Skype transparently.

    Anybody been here?

    1. Use Google or Bing. (Note: knowing how to use search engines should be a prerequisite for "DIY technology".)
    2. Search for terms like "skype gateway", "skype pbx", "skype standalone" (the last will probably get a lot of Skype phones).
    3. ???
    4. profit!!!
Well, except for the "profit" part. You're going to have to pay for Skype to get any of these working, I'd bet.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
