One care backup convert from FAT to NTFS RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • After I have setup Back up parameters in OneCare and I click and save a box opens and says one care is going to convert the file to a NTFS file or format from a FAT, the box has a link for help with this.  The link instructs me to go to Start>>> type Command prompt in Start Search box and then to right click on Command Prompt>>>then click run as administrator then type convert F:/FS:NYFS press enter ( instructions stop)  so I do all of this and the next command or prompt is list current volume label.  what is current volume label and how do I find it.  Ps I need specific step-by-step instructions  Thanks

My computer is a SONY laptop with VISTA

  • If you are configuring Centralized backup, you will need to convert the file system. If you are backing up only a single PC, you do not need to convert, though it is recommended.
The Volume Label of the partition (the drive) can be found by right clicking the drive letter in Windows Explorer.
