Windows Auth for CRM IFD? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

If I setup CRM as OnPremise, and then manually add another host header/fqdn binding to it's website in IIS, the users can access crm site over internet just fine. Further, if they add it to trusted zone, the WindowsAuth will work fine and they won't have to enter any username/password when accessing crm site over internet [provided they access it from, for example, logged in session of domain laptop].

Hower, that way, reporting services doesn't seem to work.

Now, if I set it as OnPremise + IFD, it will always force users to use forms based authentication.

Is it possible to enable Windows Auth for IFD sessions?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

When you setup OnPrem + IFD when user are accessing via the Internet they will be logging on with the IFD form and will have to enter their uid/pwd.  On prem, inside your network, they will login automatically without entering their uid/pwd.

I'm not aware of a windows auth with ifd.....

  • Hi,

IFD uses Forms authentication. You might exclude some network subnets from IFD (using the IFD config tool) and then users will authenticate with WIndows authentication. However, it is not possible to use Windows Integrated auth over IFD...

    I hope that helps,

  • If your user is outside your network, then you will always be giving the signin page. But, if your user is within your network area you configured in the IFD-tool, they would get the AD-Authitication.

  • I've set it as OnPremise. NTLM works fine even from outside over SSL. Reporting works fine aswell.
