Help trying to find out what's wrong with installation... RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

I'be been unsuccesfully trying to install WHS 2011 on my HP MediaSmart EX-470 headless server (upgraded to 2GB RAM).

The setup process allows me to access http://server/connect, but after a few minutes the server shuts downs and if I try to access the setup url again, the server states there was an error and gives me the attached bunch of setup logs that I dont know how to interpret.

You can download the generated logs from https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BynRSCphLKdJOEpXT0I0RzBJTFE

Can anybody help find out what's wrong?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Hi José, can you upload the log file to public folder on skydrive? It seems that I cannot view the log file with error message "Sorry, we are unable to retrieve the document for viewing or you don't have permission to view the document."

    Thanks.

  • Also, you can try reinitializing RWA via dashboard - Set up Remote Web Access.

  • Hi Sean, you can download the logs from Skydrive using this link: http://sdrv.ms/Mh2KV4.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Hi Sean, I'n not sure what do you mean by "you can try reinitializing RWA via dashboard - Set up Remote Web Access", remember I'm still unable to sucessfully complete the WHS 2011 setup process, so there's not RWA to reinitialize.

    thanks,

  • There are some "Failed to unload offline registry", "[HRESULT = 0x80070005 - E_ACCESSDENIED]" permission related error in setup log. So, which account did you use to log on? Or it still in the installation process and you haven't got a chance to log on? If that is the case, I'd suggest you reinstall it or use a flash drive to install it by using Windows 7 USB download tool:

  • Do you have other computer to install WHS to narrow down if this is a installation media issue or hardware related issue?
