Always pressing f5...why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • when I create new folders on my server I can not see it until I refresh. Then I rename it and have to press refresh again to see that change. If I copy/delete/rename files or move them I have the same issue. I have noticed several other people have logged this but no one seems to have an answer.

I am not talking about new share folders. I am talking about files inside those folders. I am connected thru my  1 gig LAN.

I am really happy with my WHS so far but this issue is making it impossible to work directly of the server...I am running xp 32bit and 64bit both machines are new.

    Please help...

  • It's probably a client side issue, and there's multiple possible causes / solution

Could be some "performance" tweak you applied, program you installed / uninstalled (IE) and so on.

What you can do is check the following registry key on the client

    1. Open regedit (Start, run , type regedit, hit Enter
    2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
    3. Then set value of key NoNetCrawling to 0

If this doesn't help do web search for  "windows XP explorer no auto refresh"
