at the moment as I am understanding correctly there is only support for accessing sensor data of the microsoft band and pushing notifications and app icons onto the band. This is a very nice starting point for some applications but I think the main features
of the band should be to run partly independent of the smartphone meaning that it can itself perform background tasks and just inform the smartphone about changes when needed. What I am imagine would be a kind of way to configure a background task in your
smartphone app that is dedicated to run on the microsoft band. Once you have the app icon on your band, the background task is running on the band and for example collect data and perform some operation with it on the band without the need of the smartphone.
Therefore it would be very good additionally that you could for example if you tap on your app´s icon modify the bands screen so you can display whatever you like. This would enable the developers to extend the usage of the band to support other sports like
golf, paragliding or other stuff which would increase usabililty of the band a lot.
Please let me know your thoughts about this topic.
