  • we have a two Silverlight applications, one on a dev machine and one on a live machine. The dev accesses a dev sql server and the live , the live SQL server. I am trying to write code to view reports from the respective SQL Reporting services. How can I find out which machine the code is being run on so I can do something like

    if its on machine 1 I can set the reporting services address to https://xxxxxsv1.xxxxx and like wise if running in dev set to  http://xxxxxxxxxsvdev.xxxx

    Im running VS2010 vb.net and .net 4  I have tried environment  but there is no machine name option


    Dont ask me .. i dont know

  • Hi Pete,

    You should create configuration entries for your solution, which can be used to set values for the connection strings, references to external systems (like Reporting Services). The values of these entries should be different for each environment. Following this approach, you actually don't have to know the hostname.
