  • Drive Extender (DE for short) is a technology behind easily adding and removing hard drives on the server through the Console.

Drive Extender (DE) allows you to easily add multiple Internal drives, USB 2.0 Drives and Firewire Drives to your storage by simply connecting the drive then in the Console selecting the drive and clicking add.

You can remove your hard drive by going into the Console, selecting the hard drive you wish to remove, and clicking remove.

Windows Home Server with the Drive Extender work great, but it is best to not make a habit of continually removing and adding hard drives.  It was designed more so that your storage grows with you and your data, easily.

  • Is there some more technical information (whitepaper, blog post etc) that goes into detail on how Drive Extender works?

    Cheers
