Upgrade to MS Office Pro 2007 - NOT GENUINE???? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have Windows XP and needed to upgrade by NASA edict from MS Office Pro 2003 to 2007 version.

Purchased the 2007 upgrade and began getting "not genuine MS Office".  Returned copy of MS Office Pro to Amazon as a disk was scratched and I kept getting that annoying message.  Got replacement copy.  Re-installed it, with new key.  Still getting annoying message.

    Frankly, it's getting tiresome.

I work at NASA and we are strictly monitored to be sure we have legal software.

Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

At the moment, your Dell computer has two installations of Office.

The installation of Office 2007 Professional Plus is the one creating the nongenuine situation.  It is a Volume Licensing edition of Office 2007 Pro Plus that was done with an Invalid Volume Licensing Key.  The VLK was made by a pirating program known as a Key Generator, or keygen for short.  It was never issued by Microsoft.

The other installation of Office is a retail license for Office 2007 Professional, but it has not yet been activated.

To correct the situation, use the Control Panel Add or Remove Programs applet to uninstall the nongenuine Pro Plus installation.  Restart twice, then from the Start menu open up an Office program such as Word 2007.  At this point you should see the Activation Wizard.  If you do, go ahead and activate normally online.  If not, click the Office button, then Word Options button, then Resources, then click on Activate Office and activate normally.

Finally, restart the computer and then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click Validate Office to clear the OGA Notifier cache and verify that your Office Professional 2007 retail license Validates normally.
