Firewall problems and RRS feed

    At he end of last week once care suddenly came up with a message to say the firewall was off..... this was immediately after the updates i HAD TO install because one care showed i was at risk if i didnt.... then i was at risk because the firewall was suddenly off.


    Since installing the updates and using the cleaning tool on my firewall .. the fridat tune up was a farce .. it will not let the scan get past 3% and ive tried again taody with the same result...though it will do a quick scan.


    Something is not right .... my laptop now keeps freezing and when i launch the repair it takes it back to just before the updates are installed and with one care showing my firewall is off.


    I DID NOT turn the firewall off so why have I and many others found it suddenly turned ITSELF off.??


    Is it worth me uninstalling one care and re-installing it all again or will i have the same firewall problem ??


    IF i had not just paid for my years subscription i would have taken one care off and binned it by now.


    I have now uninstalled it .. how do i reinstall

  • Hello, Lucinda. I'm sorry to read about the issues your PC experienced, apparently related to the Windows update(s) that you had to install for security purposes.

    Now that you have uninstalled OneCare, it may be best to first run the cleanup tool - 


    Then, install OneCare from http://onecare.live.com and subscribe/activate with your subscription LiveID.

    Or, you can uninstall the updates from last week and see if that resolve it. If so, then you will want to contact support for Windows Updates to get help with them since your PC was impacted by at least one of them.

  • I have uninstalled... cleaned up....re-installed and tried to run a scan and it froze mid scan.


    So i repeated the same process and the result was the same.


    I have only added updates that were essential to make sure one care ran correctly but never the less that firewall turned itself off ... now given that i have paid a subscription IF there is any virus type thing on my laptop .. how come onecare let it through.


    I am seriously unhappy...

  • Lucinda99, as a subscriber, you should contact support for help with diagnosing the cause of the problem now that a reinstall has not resolved it.
