    I can access my home server via the web and save/ upload files from the server but when I try to use the 'connect' to available computers I get a fail with messages that the server cannot find the computer within the local network. I am using win 7 pro on all machines  directly connected to the server, and using XP on the remote PC accessing via the web.

    Am I missing something obvious here?

    Do you have the port for it forwarded on the firewall?  I beleive that it's port 4125.
