invalid instillation id

Question
-
I tried to install windows xp pro 64-bit and my product key didn't seem to work tried again only have about 4 days left of activation which is going to suck if i can't get this fixed and I did the phone activation and they just kept saying my instillation id was invalid and I did a google search for this problem and it said to do a post on here with this information. Seems like most likely I'll need to buy a new cd key before I can't use my computer anymore.

Hello 3n1gma,
First off, your Diagnostic Report says "Windows License Type: OEM SLP". OEM SLP Product Keys come inside pre-installed copies of Windows and come pre-activated at the factory. OEM SLP keys Can Not be activated once they have left the factory. This is why computers that come pre-installed with Windows come with a sticker (located on the side or the bottom of the computer) with a COA SLP key. The COA SLP key is used any time the user re-installs that copy of XP on that same computer.
Windows Vista Product Keys can be used in both a 32bit or 64bit install, but Windows XP can not. A 32bit XP Pro Product Key will not be valid for a 64bit XP Pro install.
So if you are using the XP Pro product key that worked in as 32 bit XP Pro, that same key will NOT work in a 64 bit XP Pro.
So, since your Diagnostic Report shows OEM SLP and that you state that you install windows xp pro 64-bit, that means:
a) That OEM SLP product key is most likely for a 32 bit copy of XP, so the key is not valid for that 64bit copy of XP
b) Because you used a OEM SLP product key, you will not be able to activate it, no matter if you used it in a 32bit or 64bit.
You are correct, you will need to buy a 64bit Product Key.
Thank you,

I met a similar problem, but my problem occurs when I installed the windows XP 64 pro, I am a MSDN subscriber and I used the product key from MSDN website and installed windows XP 64 pro with SP2 package, the installer always said the product key is invalid. I checked a lot times and confirmed I was using the 64 bit xp 64 pro product key from the MSDN.
My laptop type is ThinkPad T61p.
