USB Without custom drivers RRS feed

  • Hi there,

       We need to transfer data over USB in a simple FIFO fashion.  Write a byte to USB, it gets sent to the embedded device, When the embedded device has a byte written to it the PC is notified via a callback.  The embedded end is OK, we can manage that.  What I would like to know is:  Is there any native windows drivers that allow USB to be used in this fashion?  I want VCP type functionality without using VCPs (baud rates, timeouts etc...).  I looked into HID drivers but even that is unnecessary functionality.  All we really want is pipe like functionality fromour windows app to the embedded micro...

             Thank you for your post!  Unfortunately I am not able to determine which forum or newsgroup is best suited for your question at hand.  Can you provide me a little more detail in regards to the operating system you are currently using?
