Windows Failure to Activate on Reinstall

Question
-
Hello! We have a new Hewlett-Packard dc5850 that we purchased online. Yesterday, the computer would not boot because "NTLDR is missing." Various sites from google recommended replacing the file from the included XP cd. I ran the auto-reinstall for Windows XP Professional Edition. While this allowed the computer to boot normally and allowed me to avoid formatting my data, I cannot activate the program anymore.
We have HP-branded discs for Windows Vista Business OEM and we also have a HP-branded disc for Windows XP Pro. I reinstalled the XP version and I tried the Vista code from the sticker on the computer case. This did not allow me to finish the install. According to an article from google, one can find the code on a CD by opening one of the text files on it. This code allowed me to finish the installation, but will not work for activation or validation.
I ran the validation tool earlier last week when downloading the Windows Media Encoder program. While we did purchase the computer from a third party, all of our documentation appears to be in order. I would like to avoid doing a system restore to a point before the trouble, but I believe that this is a "final solution" to our problem.
Here is our MGAdiag file:

Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Activate Windows.
Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the taskbar notification area next to the clock.2.
Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows now.
