Static noise when on a call RRS feed

  • Question

  • I periodically have users report "static" noise on the line when they are using Communicator for a phone call. We have tested the PSTN lines from the phone company (we have fiber direct to our building) and they are static free so somewhere, somehow the static seems to be introducted by OCS and/or Communicator. We are using GN 2000 USB OC headsets with the latest release of Communicator 2007 (.111).

I realize this is a broad question but any ideas where I should start looking to resolve this?

Thank you so much in advance for any advise.

  • My advice would be to setup the OCS QoE server role so you can collect data to try to narrow down the problem. This is a good tool that may help you narrow down your issue. You could have any number of issues ranging from a problematic nic card in a mediation server to a problamitic batch of headsets but the QoE server may help with narrowing down your issue. It will collect data from every call and give you stats on the call qualitly, network lose etc.
