How can I change my CRM On-Premise license to CRM Online? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently purchased CRM On-Premise (Workgroup edition) on a 3 Year Software Assurance Plan. However, I wish I had purchased CRM Online instead. How can I change the On-Premise license to Online licenses? Or if I sign up for the Online version is there some way of getting credited for the 3 years of CRM On-Premise?

I have contacted Dynamics Pre-Sales, Dynamics Operations and Volume Licensing and nobody can help me!

  • Hi Cam.  I checked around, and it seems you have to be on an Enterprise Agreement plan in order to get CRM Online benefits.  I'm not sure what level of SA you've purchased, but if you're on an Enterprise Agreement, you should be able to get so-called "Step Up" CALs.  If you have a Microsoft partner, I recommend starting with them; if not, start with your Microsoft account rep.

Thanks, and if you have any further trouble, please feel free to post here again so we can look into it further.

  • As far as I know - there currently isn't a way to swap license from on premise to CRM Online (hosted by Microsoft).  Only the other way from CRM Online to on premise is supported and no cost to switch.  Also how long since you purchased your license - check with your license provider - there maybe a 30 day return policy?
