off topic - XP SP3 Fails to complete installation

  After I replaced my brides old laptop with a new one with XP and installed it on our wired LAN, I attempted to install the critical updates. The first one listed was SP3. I attempted to download and install it twice and  both times it failed to complete the installation. It appears to go about 1/8 of the way thru installation before it just stops.

   

  I checked the BITS settings and they are ok.

   

  I dont know where to go from here as I really dont see my problem listed any where.
