  • Hi Sudhansu Tiwari,

      Ahh, now I understand.

Registration is not a required task to be able to use Vista and is completely voluntary. So if you are having problems Registering, you can skip it and not worry about it.

If, however, you really do wish to register, I suggest going to http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/search.aspx?=&qu=register which has a number of registration FAQs as well as troubleshooting for known issues.

    Hi Darin Smith,

Thanks for the response. My copy of Windows is already activated. When I go to Welcome center and click on "Register Windows Online" , a web page opens with a link "Continue Registration' . When I click on this Continue Registration link it doesn't naviagates me to further pages and at the left bottom of internet explorer I can see an icon which says 'Error on Page". Hope I was able to answer your question.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi Billy_James,

I am unsure, my area of experties is in Vista Activation and Validation, but in my first post (above) I do reference a Registration FAQ that may provide additional assistance.

  • Hi everyone,

Found a soloution by going to the registration page by clicking on the relevant link in the control panel and you should enf up on this page :

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/registration/default.mspx#

however the error i was having was the link wasn't working so i decided to look at the "Page Source" by clicking "View" and then "Source" in the toolbar menu,

I then found this link in the source

    https://profile.microsoft.com/RegSysProfileCenter/wizard.aspx?wizid=173a9a17-29bd-440f-ba21-8b01fcf12d61&lcid=1033&pid=

By clicking on the above think you will be asked to confirm your windows live account details and then be directed to the registration page,

Hope this helps everyone wishing to "Register" thier already activated vista product.

PS i have concluded from the above that the link is invalid and therefore not the end users fault. before i purchaced my genuine copy of vista from another retailer i did indeed try and obtain a copy straight from the source but when i go to the Vista uk microsoft site found here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/default.mspx

I clicked on the link labelled Ready to buy? Start here to ATTEMPT to buy straight from Microsoft and i got a 404 error page, i'd also like to mention that the us site only serves the us and although i submitted feedback directly to microsoft the link is still broken thus forcing me to buy from another source.

    Very poor indeed microsoft.

That being said i'd like to express my extreme satisfaction with Vista and as i understand it people are split with opinions and i installed with a clear mind and i am just wowed my the complete "Streamlineness" that vista offers, all the functions a great easy on the eye and easy to use.

    Kind Regards

    Billy
