off topic - windows firewall block FTP Connections RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I used to install IIS6 to use it's FTP service behind windows firewall ,  to allow clients to connect to my server I enabled FTP Server setting from advanced tap of firewall service , this setting always work with most of my severs with FTP Passive and Active mode, now I have a problem on one of my servers , when I tried to connect using passive mode the connection reset by the server and got audit failure on my event viewer as this

The Windows Firewall has detected an application listening for incoming traffic.

    Name: -

    Path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe

    Process identifier: 912

    User account: SYSTEM

    User domain: NT AUTHORITY

    Service: Yes

    RPC server: No

    IP version: IPv4

    IP protocol: UDP

    Port number: 3385

    Allowed: No

    User notified: No

when uncheck FTP Server setting from advanced tap of firewall service , and allow exceptions of port 21,20 ,and issue FTP Active mode , FTP site working well , now I need to allow passive mode to work as active mode , any advice why the Firewall block these traffic !
