Live Mesh Beta Check for Updates Fails with Error

Question
-
I am running the Live Framework SDK and Live Mesh on Win XP SP3. I am signed into Live Mesh Beta and it seems to be working OK. But I ask Live Mesh Beta to Check for Updates using the applet, after some time I get an error "Some updats were not configured. [80072EFD]."
I signed out of Live Mesh, exited, restarted Live Mesh and signed in. Everytime I run the Check for Updates, I get the same error.
I do not know which version of Live Mesh Beta it is since it doesn't say. The Help says it is version 0.9.3424.31. It should be the developer's version.
I should not have any connectivity problems at my end. I followed the windowshelp instructions for adding Microsoft updates sites to IE's trusted list. I have Windows Live Messenger logged in OK. I can surf the net and send and receive email. But I still get the 0x80072efd error when I try and get updates for Live Mesh Beta.
No system events were reported when the Live Mesh Check for Updates failed.
How can I find out what is wrong and how to fix it?Thursday, August 20, 2009 1:09 PM

In this post: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/LiveMesh/thread/ed5676d9-59a4-4203-9191-d7f0d72f467b
are instructions for how to remove Live Mesh. it's the 6th item down in the issues list.
As for collecting logs, if that entry is not on your start menu, it sounds like your install is broken, which would possibly explain the inability to uninstall.
The start menu shortcut points to here on my Vista machine:
C:\Users\{userID}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Live Mesh\GacBase\CollectMoeLogs.bat
On XP, I suspect that it will be C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Live Mesh\Gacbase\CollectMoeLogs.bat or similar.
Hold off on the bug reporting for now unless you can find that path/file to the collection program.

Try uninstalling Live Mesh from this machine and reinstalling it from www.mesh.com
I am not using the Live Framework SDK, but there was an issue some time back with having both on the system. I seem to recall that this was resolved, however.
In any event, if the reinstall does not resolve it, or you don't want to reinstall, you can file a bug report with logs:
How to Submit Bugs and Live Mesh Logs
The latest version is 0.9.4014.7 - released at the end of June (see the announcements section for the version update announcement)

Don, if the reinstall doesn't solve it, filing a bug report *is* the answer unless we learn something new. In that case, we'll change the answer attribute. We use that attribute to track activity in this forum for a beta service/product.

Live Mesh will not uninstall.
If I go to Add/Remove Programs and select Live Mesh and the click Remove and Yes, Live Mesh Beta puts up a box that says "Installing Live Mesh Software. Preparing for use."
Then another box appears saying: "Add or Remove Programs. Fatal Error during installation."
Live Mesh will not uninstall without error.
If I go to the Start => All Programs => Live Mesh, there is no selection for Collect Live Mesh Logs. There is only an entry for Live Mesh.
I can not collect the error logs if ther is no option for it.
How do I uninstall Live Mesh and install a new copy?
How do I report Live Mesh error logs if there is no selection for it?Thursday, August 20, 2009 4:04 PM -
