  • Start on this page:

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-vstudio.aspx

This lists the available certifications classified by version of Visual Studio. You probably want one of the newest, so click on the Visual Studio 2010 tab. There you will see the various development certifications, such as MCTS or MCPD, on Windows Applicationos, or on Web Appliations, and so on.

Once you have chosen the cert that you want to pursue, this same page will tell you the exam or exams that you need to pass. If you click on the exam links, you will be taken to another page that lists the skills tested by that exam and the suggested preparation materials.

When you are ready to take the exam, you go to www.prometric.com, and you sign up for the exam (you will be able to choose the testing center and the date).

That's it. After you have passed the required exam(s), you will get the correcponding certification.
