Trying to register for subscription RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased OneCare yesterday from a shop, installed it and it downloaded everything and done its checks etc and can even connect to check for updates but when I try and finish the installation by registering for subscription, it tries continually to open a website that is %22http.  It opens a window and immediatley closes it again.  I have tried various online help methods, none of which work - I've phone Microsoft to register it but its asking for a product key which I don't have as I can't register to get it  and its a fully automated service that doesn't allow you to talk to anyone.  Why is it so hard to load and register?  I'm getting more and more frustrated (putting it very politely) - Why is it defaulting to a website that doesn't seem to exist?  I have 15 days to activate it or it will assume its a trial version but it isn't.  HELP

  • Steve, is IE your default web browser? Do you have any pop-up blocker enabled?

  • Steve,

I have set IE as my default browser and instead of trying to connect to %22http it is now trying to connect to  https://login.live.com/ppsecure[snipped]

but is still not coming up with anything - just the same message that it can't find a connection/site when I'm online all the time with broadband which it does find for everything else.  I've even turned off the firewall, set the site as a 'trusted' site but still does nothing....I've got 13 days left now and need help.  I followed the link you sent below and all it does is say to use the help guide within OneCare but since it can't find the site, it's no use whatsoever.  Can you please urgently help?

Thinking I did something wrong, I uninstalled it and re-installed it and even created a new 'live' account (steve.bishop1@hotmail.com) but even this does nothing.HELP PLEASE....

  • I couldn't even find out how to reply to this and have only just been able to do so by creating a new threat and sending it seperatly but the title is the same, marking it for Stephen's attention - I'd appreciate a reply to the new one and one that preferably doesn't direct me to a site that doesn't work!  Thanks

  • Steve - email me at sboots@mvps.org and I'll get you directed to support. I have no idea why your browser is not getting you to the support flow.

Use "OneCare" in the subject line, tell me what country you are located in, and paste this URL - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2762102&SiteID=2 - in the message body.
