Hard disk Unhealthy RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I have an 1tb hd reporting as Unhealthy, the data on it is NOT duplicated, when I go to do a repaire it sugests that I should remove the disk from the pool and repaire it there so no data hopefully will be lost. The problem is it does not give me the option to remove it, I have 2 other 1tb drives and it will let me remove them. any ideas on how to solve this with out losing any data.

    Im using whs powerpack 2

    Many Thanks

My suggestion would be to shut down the server, pull the unhealthy drive out of it, connect it to another PC, and copy off as much data as you can first.  You'll find the data on that drive inside a hidden folder called DE.  (This way you'll be able to recover as much data as possible.)  Once you've done that, you can put it back in the server and try to remove it through the Console again.  If it still doesn't work, take the drive out (which should then show as "missing"), then remove it through the Console.
