Error Reporting that Vista is no longer Genuine

Question
-
I have been using vista on a new laptop for a couple of months no and in the last week it has booted up with a message to say that I may be the victim of piracy (or something like that) and that Windows Vista is not genuine.
I have followed the link in the dialog box to the validation page and it all goes through properly and I get a dialog to say that Vista is in fact genuine after all. However, when I reboot I get the same dialog regarding piracy again.
My desktop has an added comment on the bottom right of the screen to say that
I have tried to follow th enumerous posts in your forum to try to resolve the problem myself but it is too confusing.
I have read the replies from Microsoft staff and have performed the following 3 (THREE) tasks:
PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THREE TO AVOID ASKING ME TO DO SOMETHING THAT I HAVE ALREADY TRIED - I NOTICE IN MANY POSTS THAT PEOPLE HAVE EXPLAINED SOMETHING IN THEIR FIRST POST AND BEEN ASKED TO DO JUST THAT IN THE RESPONSE ONLY FOR THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR TO POINT TO THE FIRST MESSAGE
1 Checked My Computer Properties
Result:
Windows is activated

2 Used the diagnosis tool

Please also post the error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine
There is NO ERROR CODE in brackets at the end of the message.
The process tells me that Vista is genuine
This seems to be a common problem - Please give me some hope of a solution. When visiting a client it forms a bad impression if it looks like I am using a pirate copy of your operating system, when I know that it is 100% genuine myself.
Many thanks

I'm very sorry for the issues you're experience. I'd like to investigate your problem in much more detail with my direct engineering team if you're okay with it?
If so, please file a service request at www.microsoft.com/genuinesupport and reply here with your confirmation number and service request number (formatted at SRX/SRZ*****).
I'll make sure you're resolved.

Les the "Invalid License" is a generic error message on the MGADiagnostics tool that requires further investigation as to the absolute cause of nonGenuine states for the machine.
Please post the results of the WGA diagnostics tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012) with any new question.
Please also post the error code you get (if any) when you validate by clicking "Validate Windows" here: www.microsoft.com/genuine
The error code will be gray and in brackets at the end of the message on the page that says validation failed. (It'll look something like this: [0xC004C000]).Thank you!

Have you changed or updated any hardware on your system? if so, you may need to **Reactivate** via telephone. I would suggest going to the start menu and right-clicking on "Computer" then selecting properties.
After which, click "Change Product Key" and use the product key on the bottom of your PC.

Dear Phil
No I had not changed any hardware although I had tried to use a USB memory device for ReadyBoost.
This is the only 'hardware' issue.
I did as you advised and changed the product key but was then told the key was invalid.
This invalidated my windows vista and I tried the automated phone validation.
This again was not successful and so I was transferred to an operator who took me through the process and gave me the activation codes.
Having completed this the same problem was present.
On the bottom right of the desktop is the message
"Windows Vista (TM)
Build 6000
This copy of Windows is not genuine"
I was unable to follow this up sooner and now that I am back in the office I would like to try to get it resolved.
When I switch on the laptop I get the mesage about
When I look at the system properties I see that is says that Windows is activated
Product key: 89572-OEM-xxxxxxx-86844
There is also a "Get Genuine" button which I have followed. Once I press validate windows it opens a webpage which then reports "Thank you for validating your copy of Microsoft Windows. Thank you for using the Windows Genuine Advantage program. You may now access resources for genuine Windows users"
I am attaching the diagnostic report again just in case there are any changes since my last diagnostic..

I am having the exact same problem as well.

I have a RETAIL copy of Vista .. same thing.
Remind me again why i paid an extra $100 for a retail key when i could have bought the OEM of home basic and had ultimate retail (at no real cost to me) in about 30 minutes of recieving the disc.
Yes I'm irritated. Your activation system is easily defeated and a pain in the *** to deal with if one takes the legitimate route. Oh, and Vista isnt that great to begin with.Sunday, September 2, 2007 2:46 PM -
