Mesh keeps on uploading without apparent reason RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    Live Mesh says its uploading 105Mb of 120Mb and when its almost there it just increases the total from 120 to 140 or so. He kept doing this the whole day while the syncing should have stopped a few hours ago (I can see that the live desktop size is almost identical to the size of my local folder).

    I restarted computer and live mesh and dumped the logs but cannot find out what he is doing.

    Is there a way to find this out since its consuming my bandwith which I don't have unlimited of.

    Thanks in advance, Tom

  • How much data is being synchronized? Live Mesh needs to not only transfer the data to the cloud (and other devices via P2P , if available), but it also sends index data back and forth.

    => 4,66 GB (5.003.962.336 bytes)

    How many folders, how many files?

    => 20.854 files, 3.540 folders

    How many devices are you synchronizing with and are they all online concurrently?

    => Just the my pc to the live desktop

    I understand that some bookkeeping has to take place but not >150 Meg (and I had the feeling it would grow if I did not stop it) and display it as being busy.

    Here is a small video that shows this :

    => Skip near the end when 14,9 Meg (its always this number to start with) goes to 21,4 Meg. Today I upload a few Word documents  so its quit possible that it started syncing but no 100's of Megabyte again.

    If Mesh would tell me why its consuming so much bandwith for no apparent reason that would help a lot.

    Thank you, Tom

  • I marked your post as the answer, since you noted that it is pretty much slowing down at this point. Yes, a common complain is that Live Mesh doesn't present progress very well. Hopefully, we'll see this fixed in a future release.
