Hi
I have a Dell laptop that was purchased with windows 7 installed. I am now getting the non genuine message. I have the COA so I know the software is genuine.
How can I stop this message?

This machine shipped with Vista installed, rather than Windows 7 - as such, the installed version is counterfeit, as it uses a Key only present in Recovery media, and MUST be used with machines which shipped with Windows 7 pre-installed.
You need to reformat and reinstall with genuine media.

A new Dell Latitude D630 shipped with either Windows XP or Windows Vista preinstalled at the factory. What version and what edition of Windows is printed on the COA?

Hi
The disc I have been supplied with the laptop is a reinstallation dvd. Windows 7 SP1 32-bit
The disc says software is already installed on your computer. use this disc to reinstall the operating system on a dell pc.
The disc is a genuine dell disc and not a counterfake.
The COA Sticker says
Windows 7 Pro OA
OEM SoftwareIt has the product Key and all the usual markings of authenticity.
Does this mean that someone has upgraded from vista or xp with the wrong software. Why cant I use this software on the laptop as it is from Dell and on a dell laptop. I have all the licensing so this cannot have been used on any other machine
Thanks

It appears someone likely got ahold of a Dell branded Windows 7 disc and installed it on your Dell PC. That disc contains files to look for a specific Dell motherboard BIOS so it can self-activate. Your Dell PC does not have that specific BIOS so the installed license is non-genuine. To rectify your problem, you can purchase a genuine Windows 7 Professional license and then proceed to update the product key.
Additionally, the installed copy of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 is non-genuine (pirated) and should be uninstalled and replace with a genuine edition of Microsoft Office.

Please give detail on your COA sticker - it sounds to me as if either someone has replaced the motherboard with an earlier model, or they've attached a counterfeit COA sticker as well (which are unfortunately common!)
Please tell us (or show us with a photo after hiding the Product Key) everything you can about the COA sticker you see.
