Windows 7 Apparently not Genuine? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a new laptop with Vista installed onto it at the end August last year (2009), and it came with the the option to get Windows 7 for a small price with Acer (so it is a genuine copy). Untill now it has been fine, but then today when starting up, it said that my copy of windows 7 was not genuine. This cant be the case becuase I bought the copy from Acer, how was doing this deal with all Vista laptops at the time.
    Why is it doing this?

P.S whether you need this information, I dont know, but i have an Acer Aspire 7535 laptop and the CD that you need to install the copy of Windows 7.

  • Hi AlexWells,

To better understand what's going on with the issue, would you download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.

    Thank you,
