  • Hello rdreweslpn,

The Windows XP Pro, currently installed, is Non-genuine.  It was installed using a Volume License Key that belonge to a company that has requested Microsoft block the key due ti being either lost, stolen or leaked to the internet.

You state that you have a CoA Sticker that has a Product Key for Windows XP Home.  That is the key (and the Version of Windows) that is licensed to run on that PC.

To resolve your issue, all you need to do is us the Compaq Recovery Software, that came with the computer, to install XP Home (using the Product Key off the CoA sticker).  If you can not find the recovery software, you may need to contact Compaq for replacment software.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
