Win 7 Ult English ROW DVD activation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have bought a new copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, but when I try to activate it, it alerts me that key has been blocked by Microsoft.

I checked the package and it seems to pass all verifications I found:

    1.  Clear plastic rounded corner package with pivoting internal tray.

    2.  Certificate of Authenticity affixed to the exterior top of clear plastic box.  CoA does not have the product key printed on it.

    3.  Two hologrammed installation discs inside the clear plastic package.

    4.  Yellow-orange Proof of License label affixed to the pivoting tray portion of the package. Proof of License label does have the Product Key printed on it.

Reseller is well known and already gave me another key which also seems to be blocked:

    1st key: *****-*****-4Q8WP-CCGKQ-CDXPF

    2nd key: *****-*****-G2HVY-JGXPV-KQ2RF

I can't post report now, because I don't have my PC with me. The label on dvd says "Win 7 Ult English ROW DVD" - can my region (Europe) make these validation problems?

Answers

  • I confirm that these keys are Blocked MSDN Product Keys.

They were Blocked due to abuse of the MSDN program (meaning either the Subscriptions that these keys originated from were purchased using a stolen Credit Card or the Product Keys were found to be sold or given to multiple people in breach of the MSDN Subscription terms of service).

In other words, no, regional restrictions are not the cause of this issue. These keys are Non-Genuine and I highly recommend that you get your money back.

    Thank you,

  • Hello KasparZ,

Will need the report for better response, so please post at your earliest convenience.

Can you just return the product for a refund?  If so, that's what I'd do.

I checked the sticky threads and these seems to be MSDN keys, so I'm going to discuss it with reseller. Can someone please explain me if region changes anything? Reseller told me this product might not work in Europe. Is this true? I mean, is ROW DVD unusable in Europe?

  • Hello KasparZ,

There is some Microsoft software that is regionally restricted for activation and usage, but this restriction would be plainly marked on the product packaging like this:  http://www.microsoft.com/howtotell/geo/
