byte count & file count difference RRS feed

  • Question

  • Greetings;

    I have set-up an echo and run the actual sync.  After the sync comlpetes I use Windows Explorer | properties on the directories and see a difference in 1-4 files and 1k to 20k in size.  This difference varies based on whether I am sync'ing 100mb or 20gb.  I do not include the dat file created at the root of the directory structure in the properties.  If I re-run the sync it reports nothing to do.

    Does anyone else see this?  Is there a known explaination?

  • Hi -

    In addition to .dat files, SyncToy also does not sync desktop.ini/thumbs.db files. You should be able to use windiff.exe to show you all the differences between the two folders ( including subfolders) and let us know if you think there was any important file that you expected to see to be sync'ed but was not. If you do find some files like that please be sure to also post the type of file and the attributes on the file.
