I have 4 sticks of 1gig each for memory. During some test I had reserved memory to the cpu's (it took half), upon putting the setting back, on the reboot is when it happened.
Thats why I'm concerned, that is a minor system change, and I've been testing all the options in this system for performance.

Have you tried phone activating and validating again? You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4" in the search field in the Start Menu and pressing Enter. The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes. Let me know if you encounter the same error code when you validate after that. Thanks!Friday, May 18, 2007 12:31 AM

All I did was changed memory settings in bios, and now I get the same error,
"0xC004C4A6"
I've had the copy since Febuary with no issue until this tonight, and I have to see the "This copy of Windows is not genuine" PLASTERD on my desktop! Microsoft does not have support at all on the phone until "THEIR business hours"
Not even the online chat will work...says my copy has expired...maybe I will have calmed down by the time I get them on the phone.......tomorrow!!!!!!

Can you tell me if you've tried the suggestions in my post above? Thank you!Saturday, May 19, 2007 1:46 AM

Yes...after 20 mins..not 6...speaking with some rude foreign speaking person...it was reactivated.
My point, is the fact that the problem occured, and will apparently happen again. It was just as rude as the person on the phone. I may change my system "settings"..not parts.... daily, do I have to worry about this happening again?

Sometimes a driver update can cause this issue. Did you update any drivers recently? Thanks!Saturday, May 19, 2007 2:19 AM
