Event ID 11 & 15 RRS feed

  • Question

  • My WHS has been freezing up, and I've found in the event log lots of Event ID 11 and 15, over and over. For different drives.

Reboot seems to (at least temporarily) mask the issue. There are 3 SATA drives and one IDE DVD drive.

  • This appears to be indicating a hardware problem. Most likely it's with one of your drives (the IDE drive seems like the culprit), but it's also possible that it will prove to be with your HDD controller, or with your cabling, or even some other problem such as a failing power supply, poor ventilation in the case leading to a drive overheating, etc.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • It lasted for about 3 hrs before it started freezing again. I've disconnected the DVD drive and cleaned out some dust. I don't think it's overheating and the mobo and cables are only about 6 months old.

  • Here is what I would do:
    1. Search HD manufacturer's website for any known issues in firmware and install updates if available.
    2. Scan the system for virus. It might be infected with malware.
