  • Hello SMOOTHWILL24,

Your HP Pavilion notebook computer has a BIOS-based crack program installed that is supposed to allow the use of another manufacturer's SLP product key for Vista Ultimate to activate on your computer.

This has been detected by Windows Activation Technologies, which in turn has branded the current installation of Windows Vista Ultimate as nongenuine.

If your HP Pavilion notebook computer has a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) for Windows affixed to the bottom, this CoA will tell you what version and edition of Windows originally shipped on the computer.  If there is a CoA, please contact HP tech support or customer service to order a set of Recovery discs so you can install the original license for Windows back onto the computer.
