Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Research\Microsoft WorldWide  Telescope\dsetup32.dll.   Verify that you have access to that directory.

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the
setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I had previously disabled BitDefenderIS IDS

When update was released I just gave up.

  • What are the specs on your system?

So when you wrote "So uninstalled", did you use Control Panel -> Programs -> Uninstall -> WorldWide Telescope?

Also if there is a problem with the install package (msi file), did you try deleting the downloaded msi file (wwtsetup.5.0.3.msi) and then redownloading and reinstalling?

    Thanks

  • You want to use the Legacy version of WWT for Windows XP systems: http://worldwidetelescope.org/Download/?Legacy

Do not attempt to install WWT 5.0 on Windows XP.  (See note on both http://worldwidetelescope.org/Download/ and http://worldwidetelescope.org/Download/?Legacy).

    Thanks,
