    Hi All

I was wondering if there is any information, examples or even someone that has implemented a mySQL server to MS Sync Framework application.

I am about to write a winform that will be distributed to around 50-100 roaming salesmen that may or may not be online. What I need is to allow them to operate as normal and synchronise when they choose to. A lot of the information is non critical and as they are already used to syncing upto 5 times a day using my previous system (VSTO cached excel sheet) works well enough but I feel the Sync Framework might bring a better solution to the table.

I am aware that I need to write a custom provider but I am unsure on how to do this and how I would implement the framework.

Any alternative solutions or sync framework ideas will be appreciated, I will go back to custom local caching but would like to explore another avenue.

    Kind Regards

    Chris

  • this is not the first time someone posted about an inquiry on a MySQL provider. as far as i could remember, not much has been posted about a sample provider.

if it helps, you may want to look at the Oracle sample provider and replace the Oracle specific commands/objects with MySQL. have a look at : https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ProjectName=sync&ReleaseId=3761

or look up "Synchronizing Other ADO.NET Compatible Databases" in the documentation.

  • Thanks for that

I have seen that post but was still a little unsure of what to do, I will check out the Documentation and see how that goes. I will leave the post unanswered just in-case someone else has the solution

    regards
