  • Whats the differnce between whs and a network storage adapter? whs need more features in order for it to become better than a network storage adapter. Dont get me wrong, I like whs, I like beta testing it. But I seriously  think it needs more features. Microsoft, please listen to us, add email storage, media center functionality, custom backups and more features. Sorry I dont wanna be rude or anything!

  • Automatic backups using Single Instance Storage comes to mind first. There's also the extensibility; it's very difficult to develop a new application for a NAS device, but WHS is built on a version of Windows Server 2003, so it's got a much larger pool to draw from.

The ability to plug in additional drives and just add them to the pool, without any additional management required, is also nice. Easy to configure (well, relatively) remote access, including the ability to remotely connect to a client PC in your home, is something that a NAS doesn't deliver, either.

So there's lots that WHS has that a NAS doesn't...
