windows 7 not accepting key ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • So i had to do a complete reinstall of of windows and since my laptop didn't come with a windows disk i had to it from another disk now before the reinstall (refer to link) i was running windows 7 enterprise build 7601 i.e it came with 7600 and was up graded to service pack 1.

Now after the reinstall when i try to activate my os with the key i had before it give me an error saying "this key is not valid for this version of windows".

however, im sure i have same windows 7 enterprise build 7600 on the cd i installed it from and have already upgraded it. the product i.d of this windows does not match the one i previously had, should that be an issue ?

i have a perfectly legit key for windows 7 enterprise and after all it should work with any o.s that is windows 7 enterprise.

How do i get my key to work ?

please help me guys asap !

  • Windows 7 Enterprise edition is a Volume License version.  You must use the correct Windows 7 Enterprise Volume License installation disc in order to use the Windows 7 Enterprise product key.  Contact your IT Admininstrator and request the correct Windows 7 Enterprise Volume License installation disc and reinstall.

  • The link i posted above is the diagnostic report from said tool, but that was before the reinstallation. Long story short i now kno that "Windows 7 Enterprise edition is a Volume License version".

Now the question is how do i get the product id the same as before and use my original key to activate it ?

  • Product IDs are unique to the installation and cannot be replicated.  Please see: Product Activation and Key Information

  • Right then this is an excerpt from the the link above "Licensing Data--> Software licensing service version: 6.1.7601.17514 Name: Windows(R) 7, Ultimate edition Description: Windows Operating System - Windows(R) 7, OEM_SLP channel"

    What does this mean ?

And if there is no way to replicate a product id what do i do ?
