virus scan progress RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,  We suspect we have a virus / worm at work and are running virus scans on all PC.  I chose to do the Virus Scan but the box doesn't pop up.  It does say Virus Scan in Progress.  How do I know the scan is taking place and when it is complete?  Thank you for your help, June

  • Are you referring to Windows Live OneCare? How did you initiate the scan? Did OneCare alert you about a virus and offer to do a full scan or did you run a tune-up? If you selected Tune-up, which includes a scan, you should see an icon in the system tray. If you right clicked a location on your hard drive, selecting the drive or a folder, and selected Scan for Viruses, a dialog should have appeared showing progress and results.

If you are using Windows Live OneCare and you have been infected, but OneCare did not detect or cannot remove the malware, please contact support to report this and for help with removal.
