    computer has been running slow, logged off and on again today and got this message "An unauthorized change was made to windows. Windows has discovered a change that will result in limited windows functionality. Use link to fix or close. If you choose fix it goes to "Genuuine Microsoft" and wants to check software. Is this okay to do? I did not make any changes. I tried to get on a chat with dell and kept getting thrown off and back to log in, a vicious circle.

    You all have different issues all requiring different resolutions. It would be too confusing to try to answer each of your 4+ different issues all in the same thread.

      In order to recieve the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue" click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.


    If you do not have access to the Start Button:

    1) Login to Vista and Click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.

    2) Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.

    3) A window will come up asking if you want to Run or Save, Select Run

    4) When the program runs, Click the Continue button, then click the Copy button.

    5) Return to this thread by Typing: http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3488449&SiteID=25 into the browser address bar.

    6) In a reply post, Paste the Diagnostic Report.

    System restore has fixed error. I'll try to install updates one-by-one tomorrow and may be will succeed in detecting the corrupt update.
