It's saying Product Key already in use, yet it's the first computer we've tried to put it on. RRS feed

  • We bought a Windows Live OneCare "All in One Security and Performance Service" a few months ago, when we first bought our laptop. We've had them both for close to 4 months now, and it's saying that our product key is already in use, but we haven't used it before this. Does anyone know why? Any kind of help would be great. Thanks.

  • If you haven't activate the product key yet, it might been already associated with a valid LIVE ID. If the Windows Live OneCare has already installed on the laptop before you purchased it, the store might be the one who activate that particular product key for you.

  • Are you just now installing and activating a sealed retail copy of OneCare on the first PC? Or was OneCare installed and running when you bought the PC, perhaps set up by the store? What is the current condition of OneCare? Is it installed and running? Under Help/About in OneCare does it state that you are in trial mode, or does it list a Subscription ID and status?
