Using a New Retail Package to Renew an Existing Subscription RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I buy a new OneCare retail software package and use it to renew my about-to-expire OneCare subscription?  How would it work?  I've been very pleased with the trouble-free performance of OneCare and am sad to hear of its end.

  • Yes, you can. See this post for details.

Don't uninstall your current copy. Renew with a key at any time before your current subscription ends (up to 12 months prior to expiration).

  • Thanks.  Sorry that I didn't look more carefully for the often posted answer.

Will Version 2.0 of the retail product work for the renewal of my Version 2.5 OneCare?

  • Yes, it will work. The version on the retail box doesn't matter. If you were to use the CD it would install V. 2.5. The CD just connects to a One Care server and downloads the latest build.
