WGA Problem over Re-activation

Question
-
Hi, Over the past few months WGA has increasingly demanded that I re-activate my Windows XP part of my Media System 2005 with SP2 and full updates.
Today it did it again but would not contact the BB connection via USB but insisted that it dialed an 0800 freephone number as the registration Server.
Since then WGA insists that my system is not activated and says I must buy a new license!
I have run the WGA Validation tool with the expected results showing the last three blocks of my Cuc code ok. I have run the genuine/duiag procedure and get all green reports. However when I press the Activate button it just comes back that I need to re-activate by buying a new license! It als thinks I'm running XP Pro instaed of Windows Media Centre 2005
I have also run the suggested tests in KB 916247 to see if the system is in the right state. Both the regsvr32 run ok. However trying part 3 for the subkey , it is not there . Actually there is no such subkey in the whole Registry!
Due to problems in the past I have had to reload the whole system and rebuild it twice. It was originally purchased as an OEM installed system which is still reflected in the Mycomputer/system/properties OK. It has always run OK (in the end!) after having to downloaded 60/70 fixes from the Upgrade system!
I dont't seem to be able to insert the WGA clipboard copy into this browser!
Anybody able to suggest a fix?

Mr. Norris,
Thank you very much for providing the diagnostic results :-). Well all appears well except for Outlook 2002. Basically it appears as being non active. You will have to do a telphonic activation. Please open the following URL for various telephone activation centers: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851. Call the number and after you hear the options please select 0 for operator. It will ask you if you want to speak to a representative and say yes. Please let us know how everything works and if we may further assist you.
Take care,

Without your WGA Diag report in a post, we're kind of shooting in the dark.
When you say you've reloaded and rebuilt the system multiple times, did you change the motherboard? This would force an OEM license to require telephonic activation and only if the replacement motherboard failed (i.e. not an upgrade).
OEM licenses are this way. They are bound to a SINGLE computer and cannot be transferred to a new, different or upgraded computer. I'd recommend trying to copy/paste your WGA Diag output here or if this is an OEM license (which MCE is), you may need to call the 1-800 number as it asks and explain your situation.Wednesday, July 11, 2007 8:06 PM -
Paulm,
I understand the inconvenience you are currently experiencing and would like to provide you with some self-help options we have made available for our customers to address the issue you are currently experiencing. Please follow the steps outlined below as it could either resolve your issue or, if need be, provide us with additional information to determine the cause of this issue.
1. Ensure you log onto the computer experiencing the issue with “Administrator” rights.
2. Next we would like to confirm that you are running the most current version of the Genuine Advantage control on your computer. In order to do this please follow the below link and choose the “Validate Office” option.
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
If the above steps did not resolve your issue lets continue with the steps below.
I would like to provide some of the self-help options we have made available for our customers to address these issues. If you could please follow the steps outlined below the diagnostics Web Site will attempt to resolve the validation errors you are experiencing with Office.
http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en
Next follow the on-screen prompts to resolve the issue if any of the checks at the above site fail. You can do this by choosing the “Resolve Now” button if it appears. If, after attempting to resolve the issue as per the instructions on the above site fails, please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.
Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.
1. After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.
2. Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.
Step 2 is to look on the computer or with the materials you received with the computer or with your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). If you have one, tell us about the COA. Tell us:
1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center, or another version of Windows?
2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
Not sure what to look for? See this page for reference: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/en/coa.mspx
Please post again if you need further assistance. Thank you.
Thank you

StevePO, thanks for message.
No there was no change in Motherboard or anything much else. It was just that I had a software bug that damaged critical files. The only way back was to re-install.
the Bug in a Anti-virus program has been fixed and all is OK. I also did not understand that re-building would require me to have a physical keyboard and mouse connected to PS2 connections during the re-installation!!! (XP still asks for a disk to be inserted in Drive A and it can only be cancelled with the Mouse and keypad). Since I usually use a Radio keypad and mouse via the USB you get royally screwed!
However I have just come back to my PC (on the way to bed!) and found a message saying Three days left to Activate with an icon in the quick area (RHS), clicked that and it re-activated OK!! This time I did not offer to Register just re-activate. Perhaps that might be the difference. I have to see whether I have to re-activate again.
Yes sorry I couldn't get the Clipboard to Paste in to IE7. However it will to Mozilla! Work that one out!!!!
Regards
Paul M

Sorry Stephen, there appears to be a bit of a mix-up. Mozilla will not follow the redirection instruction and is unable to load the reply page! IE7 still will not accept a right click in this answer section! When I was trying to report this problem initially via the WGA system I was able to include the info but was unable to send the message! your server (?) kept on saying it had an unexpected problem and to try later.
Sorry, just found that you have to use Paste Text to get clipboard into this Area!!!!! I was just expecting a right click! I'm still using my Office 97 Pro which does well enough for me and I have bought an old Mobile PC disk with activation code to get an Outlook 2002 to work with my PDA/GPS link. That says it has been activated OK but your Office Check says it hasn't!
Anyway the system started up OK this morning without asking me to re-activate so I shall keep my fingers crossed!
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
Regards to you and Stephen MS for taking an interest. Now I shall sink back into my normal retired state (I stopped working 10 years ago!).
