Answered by:
HD Size to Install

Question
-
I want to test Vail but at the moment the largest available drive I have is 120 GB. I also have several 80GB drives available. It is not clear from the docs if there needs to be at least one HD of 160 GB or larger or if this can be from multiple smaller drives. Will Vail install on less than a 160 GB drive if the total capacity is at least 160 GB? If not, will it install with the 120 plus a 300 GB USB drive?
Thanks,

It has to be at least one drive of 160GB or more.

Please read all of the documentation prior to attempting to install Vail, along with all of the known issues listed at the top of this forum and the Getting Started Guide. The answer to your question is there.

Ken,
I did read the documentation. I found it ambiguous. Under System Requirement it says: "At least one 160 GB hard drive." It does not say this has to be the boot drive. It also does not say this cannot be an external USB drive. The Geting Started Guide at least in this case, is very unspecific. That is why I asked the question.
In the future how about responding with a real answer in the future with your justification for it. A smart-assed put down doesn't do anyone any good and reflect poorly on you.

Actually, I honestly find the documentation extremely clear on this. It makes certain assumptions about the reader's general level of technical expertise, I'll admit. Those assumptions are reasonable, I think; the bar is set high because this is a beta product of an OEM/headless OS that the reader will be attempting to install.
