  • ...and please allow me to chime in with a "Me, too" here, although I will add that "Error: An invalid argument was supplied." is the rest of the error I'm receiving, and apparently earlier on in the install process (after agreeing to the terms, actually).  I'm wondering if this is just an example of one of MS's unhelpful/cryptic error messages and just a way of saying that the server's overloaded?  (XP Pro 32 SP3)

  • For those who hit the "An unexpected error has occurred" error when DOWNLOADING POWERSHELL, once you have rebooted your computer, does the error message show up consistently when you retry installing the Fix it Center client with the "Try It Now" button on http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/portal? One possilibity is due to incomplete download of the PowerShell setup package. A transient networking issue or a corrupted copy of the PowerShell setup package in the file cache of your ISP's proxy server may cause this problem.

If the problem with downloading PowerShell shows up consistently, please kindly pre-install PowerShell 1.0, before re-attempting to install the Fix it Center client. Windows XP and Server 2003 users can do so via http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926139, and Windows Vista users via http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928439.

For those who hit the problem with PowerShell pre-installed, please kindly tell me which PowerShell version you have previously installed and which edition of Windows you are running.

Please let me know on this thread how it goes.

  • While installing FixitCenter, a message says :

"Fix It Center Setup encountered an error. An expected error has occurred. Please close and try to run setup again later."

    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate (ver. 6.1 build 7600)

Problem Solved : This problem is solved by enabling the the Autorun feature of the Windows. If the PC is vaccinated using Panda Vaccine, remove vaccination first, then restart the PC, and try to run setup again.

RE: "Error: The attempted operation is not supported for the type of object referenced."

Would you please check if the fix described in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/811259?p=1 resolves your issue? The page contains a "Fix it" option to check and fix the settings for you automatically.
