Windows Media Center does not recognize WMV

Question
-
Windows Media Center (WMC) does not recognize WMV under "folder" view. I am able to see and run the files under the by "date" view. The system used to recognize the files before without any problem in the folder view. I am able to see and run the files under Windows Media Player (WMP) as well as windows explorer (libraries, etc). I have seen similar threads with this same problem nevertheless it has not been answered. I have not particularly install anything recently except the usual windows updates. I have tried the following recommendation but was useless:
1.
Exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.
2.
Delete the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is in the following location:
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.db
To delete the file, follow these steps:
a.
Click Start , and then click Run .
b.
In the Open box, type run , and then click OK
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue .c.
In the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome , and then click OK .
d.
In the details pane, right-click mediacenterdatastore.db , and then click Delete .
e.
Click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the Recycle Bin.
My system:
HP Elite 9000t, RAM: 3 GB, HD: 500 GB, processor: Intel CoreQuad core Q6600 @ 2.4GHz, OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
I appreciate any help to solve this issue.

Have you tried running the Windows Media Player troubleshooters that come with Windows 7? To access these, click on the white flag next to your clock in the system tray, this is the icon for the Windows Adfction Center. Once Action Center opens up, click on the troubleshooting link, then choose View All from the left menu choices. Based on your problems description, try running 2 troubleshooters, Windows Media Player Library and Windows Media Player Settings.
Sincerely,
