I just tried to install the 32-bit version of ICE 1.4.4 on my Windows XP Pro SP3 workstation. I received an error message toward the end of the install (Network error reading file...), but the filename referenced was the same as the install file but
with '[1]' appended to the filename (eg. ICE-1.4.4-for-32-bit-Windows[1].msi). After retrying the install several times and receiving the same error, I created a copy of the install file named as the error message noted. With BOTH files in the
folder, the install completed successfully. I should note that the reason I tried to repair my ICE installation was that the SysInternals program AUTORUNS noted one .DLL file (ShellExtension.dll) from ICE that was shown as:
File not found: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Research\Image Composite Editor\ShellExtension.dll
in two separate instances:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions\Approved\Microsoft Image Composite Editor
and
HKLM\Software\Classes\*\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\CShellStitcher Object
However, the successful repair of ICE did NOT correct the missing DLL issue.
Any ideas?
